The commentary

The banking services of the two models (traditional banks as opposed to neo-banks) will probably become more and more similar over time, an expert states, pointing out “But that’s not really surprising. Ultimately, the banking business is simple: saving, paying, investing, financing. Neobanks can’t reinvent the wheel – they can only make their services cheaper, faster and better than those of traditional banks.”

Yet one should also note that neobanks are also tapping into new business areas. According to the Financial Times, Revolute has been looking into monetising its customer data with advertising partners to diversify its revenues. According to the Financial Times, Revolute has set the target of generating £ 300 million by 2026. Contacted by Le Temps, Revolute did not want to provide any further information. At the beginning of 2024, Revolute also launched a service as a mobile phone provider with a paperless SIM card for travellers who can use a mobile data top-up service in around 100 countries.
