The International Monetary Fund (IMF) prevents major crises by stepping in when over-indebted countries become insolvent. With its annual technical analyses of member countries’ economic policies, it aims to prevent major crises from occurring in the first place. According to the NZZ, it is one of the last international organisations that functions despite all the geopolitical tensions.
