The commentary
The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) commissioned a study to address concerns about excessive salt consumption in Switzerland. The study’s findings include simple recommendations, such as tasting food before adding more salt. The study cost CHF 567,000, which is a significant expense for such seemingly basic advice. The cost and nature of the study might cause more stress (and potential health issues) than the actual problem it aims to solve, which is excessive salt consumption.
