The commentary

In 2025, Switzerland’s financial equalisation payments will total at CHF 6.2 billion, CHF 4.2 billion of which will be financed by the federal government. The cantons of Zug, Schwyz and Basel-Stadt will have the largest increases in resource indices, while Neuchâtel, Zurich and St. Gallen will see the largest decreases. The cantons financing these payments are generally the economically stronger cantons, contributing a bigger share to support the less resourced cantons.
