The Federal Council has approved the new Code of Conduct for Federal Administration staff. It will enter into force on 1 October 2024.
The commentary
The code is intended to safeguard the reputation as well as the credibility of the Federal Administration and updates the previous code, which has been in force since 2012.
The updated code summarises the key principles applying to the conduct of employees and is intended to ensure that employees fulfil their duties responsibly, transparently and with integrity so as to strengthen public trust. The revision takes account of current developments and adopts topics such as ethics, integrity and standards of behaviour to today’s working world.
This step illustrates the government’s efforts to continuously modernise administrative work and to meet the high demands in terms of professionalism and public responsibility.
