The 70th edition of the Brussels art fair BRAFA, one of the oldest art fairs in Europe, is scheduled from 26 January to 2 February 2025.

The commentary
BRAFA is known for its versatility and the fair showcases a wide range of styles and eras, from archaeology and antiques to modern and contemporary art. An estimated 130 galleries from 14 countries will take part in BRAFA 2025.
With over 66,000 admissions in January 2024, BRAFA registered a record number of visitors. The Claes Gallery (Brussels) sold a bookcase made of sheet steel and aluminium by Jean Prouvé from 1946 for € 500,000. Galerie Sofie Van de Velde (Antwerp) sold a work on paper by Pablo Picasso (Bacchanale, 1955) for € 250,000 and a work by Gilbert & George (Belief, 1983) for € 250,000. The Samuel Vanhoegaerden Gallery (Knokke) sold several works by pop art icon Tom Wesselmann, including Monica with Lichtenstein (1988-1990) for € 450,000. Meanwhile, Maison Rapin (Paris) found a buyer for the chandelier by Robert Goosens for € 140,000. Also on offer were two Paul Delvaux (La ville lunaire) for € 3.8 million and (l’orage) for € 2.4 million.
