The commentary
According to economiesuisse and an updated study by Ecoplan, the bilateral agreements with the European Union (EU) have a positive effect on our prosperity. According to the study, Switzerland would have to reckon with significant losses in gross domestic product (GDP) if the bilateral agreements were cancelled.
From economiesuisse’s point of view, the GDP decline estimated in the study is a conservative estimate. The economic benefits of the treaty package are likely to be higher.
Personal statement: Because of the domestic political rights that will be affected by Bilateral III I am sceptical of the treaty package.
