In a guest article on 22 October 2025 Phil Baumann and Marc M. Winistörfer call for government screening of foreign investments in order to boost Switzerland’s geo-economic resilience and to reduce exposure to major powers.

Economiesuisse disagrees. The business federation argues that investment controls would undermine Switzerland’s openness and international ties, because the country already has effective safeguards against risky foreign investments with restrictions that exceed the OECD average.
