The commentary

According to Deloitte, 208 mergers and acquisitions were completed, which indicates a growth of 16 % year-on-year. For the first time more than half of these transactions involved foreign buyers, marking a new record.

Domestic acquisitions rose slightly to 53 transactions. In contrast, Swiss SMEs significantly reduced their acquisitions abroad, decreasing by 25 % to 51 deals.

Private equity was the key growth driver, with financial investors participating in 56 % of all transactions.

Deloitte expects the market to continue to expand in 2026, particularly within Europe, despite ongoing geopolitical risks.
