The commentary

The new presentation will trace Giacometti’s artistic development, from surrealist beginnings to the iconic work of his late years.

The full display opens in fall 2026 in the Chipperfield building. Meanwhile, a focussed preview is available in two halls, as two rooms remain reserved for special exhibitions.

Giacometti holds some of the highest auction records in art history with his sculptures frequently commanding eight-digit sums due to their scarcity and because his sculptures are in high demand. L’homme au doigt sold for a whopping USD 141.3 million in 2015. While his primary market is for bronze figures, his paintings average at over USD 2 million, with top works often exceeding USD 20 million. – Source: MyArtBroker
