The commentary

The exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris includes more than 300 works from the last 13 years of the Henri Matisse’s life.

Henri Matisse’s work commands high auction prices, with top paintings exceeding USD 80 million and major works frequently selling for over USD 10 million. The highest price reached at an auction was USD 80.75 million for “Odalisque couchée aux magnolias” (1923), sold in 2018. Sculptures are known to have reached up to USD 48.8 million, while prints and smaller works can sell for thousands. (Artnet)
