The commentary

Despite the common trend, the BILANZ Artist Ranking 2026 highlights a different dynamics: Despite market cycles, artists remain focussed on their work, pursuing their practice with dedication and consistency.

A total of 46 museums and Kunsthalle representatives, independent curators, critics, as well as other art experts contributed to the BILANZ Artist Ranking 2026 by nominating their preferred artists.

The following 25 artists emerged as the most highly regarded by the expert panel:
