The commentary
Today, the Federal Council adopted the dispatch on the Protocol of Amendment to the Agreement between Switzerland and the EU on the automatic exchange of financial account information (AEOI). The Agreement will be aligned with the revised OECD standard and will introduce new provisions on administrative assistance for the recovery of VAT claims. According to the Federal Council, the proposal enjoys broad support among consultation participants.
The amendment is a consequence of the revised OECD standard and does not form part of the package on Switzerland–EU relations.
The Protocol must be approved by the Federal Assembly. Before a decision is made, k-flash will provide a brief assessment of its substantive implications.
