The commentary
Christoph Hefti began his career as a textile designer, and he used to collaborate with renowned fashion houses and designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Balenciaga. Nowadays he pours his creativity into carpets, creating richly textured tapestries and textile works that evoke the enchanting worlds of imaginative fairytales.
The Museum of Design Zurich is presenting his work in the exhibition “The Missing Cat and Other Textile Stories,” with Hefti’s art on display until January 2027.
Hand-knotted by artisans and crafted from luxurious materials such as wool and silk, Hefti’s carpets and textile artworks are produced in limited editions. Depending on their size, materials and edition, prices typically range from CHF 5,000 to CHF 10,000.
