k-flash audio commentRecord CHF33m bid for rare watches in Geneva

The case

Bidders spent more than CHF33 million on rare watches at a record-breaking Christie’s auction in Geneva.

The commentary

One of the highlights was a 1990 Cartier Crash London, which tripled its low estimate and sold for CHF1.585 million, setting a new record for the model. The sale’s top lot was the rare F.P. Journe Platinum Tourbillon Souverain Ref. T, which achieved CHF2.439 million — more than five times its estimate.

Other notable results included the Tiffany Blue Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018 at CHF1.27 million and the Patek Philippe Ref. 3970EP-047 formerly owned by Michael Steven Ovitz, which sold for CHF1.016 million.

Strong sales for brands such as A. Lange & Söhne, Daniel Roth and Krayon highlighted continued global demand for high-end collectible timepieces.
